Walker Trolley

As a frequent walker, I am always on the lookout for a high end pushcart. While I am a big fan of Sun Mountain and Clickgear, I am very intrigued by the new Walker Trolley. The look of these pushcarts is sophisticated and belying by its outwardly streamlined, minimalist appearance. Their mission is simple: make walking golf cool, again.

TactiCool BAMF Golf Bag

TactiCool BAMF

My desire to find the perfect golf bag as a product reviewer has taken a wild but pleasant turn, as we were introduced to a rather unique company based out of Arizona. TactiCool Clothing and Accessory Co has taken the very popular tactical gear industry and applied all it’s features and durability and incorporated it into one of the most unique golf bags I’ve ever seen.

GolferPal EasyPal Power Folding Push Cart

That's a lot of stuff

Let’s face it, in some golfing circles push carts have a bit of an image problem. When I first mentioned to my golfing buddies that I was thinking about getting one they, being kind and supportive friends, suggested that I could use it to carry my Metamucil and Depends. They might have been onto something, because:

  1. My first thought was “On the course is the last place I would want Metamucil.”
  2. The whole point of getting a push cart is that I have a bad habit of carrying too much stuff.

Sun Mountain H2NO Golf Bag

Sun Mountain H2No Cart Bag Review

We don’t use them to bomb drives or bury putts but perhaps one of the most important golf purchases we make is the golf bag. The golf bag is our trusted home for our clubs and personal “carry-all” for 4+ hours each glorious time we tee it up. Like many people, I only get a new bag every 5-7 years so when it comes time to replace “old trusty”, I am pretty fickle about what I want. You would think ‘a bag is a bag’. I mean, it would seem reasonable that at this point in time that golf companies would have figured out all of the best features and just put them in every bag and the only difference would be the color scheme.

Cobra Bio Cart Bag Review

Cobra Bio Cart Bag

Yea, I’m one of “those” guys….you know the guys that totes everything short of a practice net to the golf course. Wallet, phone, keys, money, snacks, yardage book, camera, GoPro and sometimes a video camera. By the time I am done, my pockets can tend to be a bit “overcrowded”. Heck, just getting the cart and unloading all of my crap into my bag has seriously been one of the largest burdens of my rounds. That’s no longer the case though now that I’ve put the Cobra Bio Cart Bag into play.

TaylorMade Catalina Cart Bag Review

Taylormade Catalina Cart Bag

Being self employed, I end up playing a lot of mid-week golf with random guys I run into at the course. One day last summer I was just about to tee off when a big athletic young guy rolled up and asked if he could join me. Now the reason I recall this particular person is because he was dressed head to toe in TaylorMade gear including the latest polo, shorts, hat, driver and irons (he may have literally rolled out of a TMAG advertisement).

Ping to Prada

A lady with a nice handbag, killer shoes and freshly done hair & nails defines class. I have not quite figured out why we gravitate to accessories like we do but it’s a worldly commonality among women.  It’s a shame the golf bag industry is so stale when it comes to keeping up with the trends, because if they knew anything about women they’d know we would have to own at least four. Or so I thought . . .

ClicGear Rovic Review

ClicGear Rovics

ClicGear, known for its sleek folding design, has become one of the clear push cart leaders. At my club, for example, where a ton of members use a push cart, ClicGear is absolutely in the top 2 of preferred models. While I have never owned a ClicGear myself, my partner Wade reviewed the ClicGear 3.0 last year and was very impressed . . . he continues to use that cart to this day.

Sun Mountain SV1 Speed Cart

Sun Mountain SV1 push cart

I am a long-time fan of Sun Mountain push-carts and for the past three years I have used the Sun Mountain V2, which for some reason never took off like the original V1. To set the stage, I play about 2-3 times a week and walk about 80% of those rounds, so having a super solid premium push-cart is must-have. As I mentioned, I am very familiar with the Sun Mountain push carts but the new SV1 Speed Cart has made a number of changes which have really improved an already solid offering. Most notably these include:

AlphaRD Duo Golf Cart

AlphaRD Dou Cart

Every three months there seems to be a big technology breakthrough with drivers, but with golf carts, big changes are rare. Remember how long it took for us to figure out that push carts were way better than pull carts? Fortunately, companies are back in the lab working on the next revolution for the push cart beyond adding additional gizmos.

Nike Performance Carry Bag

Nike Performance Carry Bag

Nike Performance Carry Bag Review: Thanks to a really poor bag selection I made 8 months ago, I am now an expert on want I DON’T want in a golf bag. Now when I walk through the golf section, I’m not nearly as interested in style as I am in functionality. Yup, I am the guy opening pockets, pulling zippers and turning bags upside down to check the base for structure and stability. I guess you could say I’ve broadened my horizons on what to look for in a bag.

TaylorMade PureLite 3.0 Stand Bag

Taylormade 3.0 Purelite Stand Bag

TaylorMade PureLite 3.0 Stand Bag Review: Believe it or not, there are still golfers out there that like to carry their bag – no pull cart, no llamas, just a good old-fashioned stand bag. For 18 holes, even! I admittedly kissed that world goodbye about two years ago when a buddy let me use his old pull-cart. While I may have lost a bit of my man card on that day, my shoulders rejoiced. To my defense, I am probably only about ten years away from socks-n-sandals, but I know the younger kids wouldn’t be caught dead doing anything but double-strapping their sticks (see: every high school and college golf tournament on the planet). So my point is, there’s still a place in the universe for the good ol’ carry bag, so when it came time to try out the TaylorMade PureLite 3.0, I had no choice but to eat my Wheaties and revisit the on/off world of lugging my clubs. On to the review.

Sun Mountain KG3 Cart Bag

Sun Mountain KG3 Cart Bag Review: To those of you who primarily ride when you play golf – you know that beyond style there are a few must have features in a cart bag. Like a well seasoned business traveller, we understand the benefits of good luggage and since the only time we are going to carry this baby is from our car to the cart there is no reason to skimp on features.

Molhimawk SwagBag: Plastic or Paper? Yup, bags are a staple of our life and one piece of equipment all golfers must have. During my visit to the 2012 PGA Merchandise show, I got the opportunity to meet with the founders of a new golf bag company called Molhimawk.

ClicGear 3.0 Pushcart

Clicgear 3.0

ClicGear 3.0 Review: The myth held by most non-golfers is that it is some sort of beer-and-cigar-sodden pastime played by over-weight, ex-frat boys riding around electric go-carts. While there is some truth to this, the majority of golf is played by regular people just looking to spend some time outside, socialize with friends, test their skills and get a bit of exercise, (and when I say a bit of exercise, keep in mind that walking 18 holes is approximately a 5-7 mile walk). Hence, for us walkers, having a solid, well rolling push-cart is a must have.
